About Me

I’ve set this up to give you access to information about chemical dependency services inside and outside of Kaiser Permanente, including some links to community self-help groups that will allow you to find meeting schedules for your area. I’ve also included a little info about myself.

I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, and I am licensed by the California Board of Psychology (License #PSY4534). I have worked in chemical dependency and mental health services for many years. Before coming to Kaiser Permanente in 1989, I was the Director of the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center Psychiatric Clinic, the Director of Berkeley Alcohol and Drug Services, and Director of the Central Contra Costa Community Mental Health Center. I've also been involved in research and program evaluation, and am the co-author of "Mystification and Drug Misuse" and "Recovery from Alcoholism: A Social Treatment Model". I currently collaborate with Kaiser Permanente's Division of Research in studies aimed at improving the effectiveness of chemical dependency treatment.

In addition to serving as Program Director of the Vallejo CDRP, I am a member of the Executive Committee of the Chiefs of Chemical Dependency Services for Northern California Kaiser Permanente. I love working for this organization and feel very privileged to have the opportunity to work with so many dedicated and talented people who also enjoy sharing the gifts of recovery and health.

To get any more information on chemical dependency services, just click on the title you want in the navigation bar on your left.

I hope you find this helpful. If you have ideas for how I could improve the page, please let me hear from you!

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
