Welcome. I am Dr. Stephen Wang with the Department of Medicine, specializing in hematology and oncology. I chose to specialize in this field because I found myself quite comfortable helping patients better understand their own illnesses, which are sometimes life-threatening, and try to make some sense of life as it takes an unexpected turn. Also, I enjoy learning about the underlying biology of the many new developments in cancer treatment.
In the hematology and oncology clinic, we manage different types of blood disorders and cancers. These conditions are often complex and cause much stress and upheaval for patients and their families. We strive to provide a high quality experience in our clinic, seamless and thorough, treating each person as one of our own family members.
Last but not least, if you are a fan of the Sacramento Kings or the Cal Bears, then we’ll get off to a good start!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
