About Me

As the eating disorder specialist at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Psychiatry, I help people with eating, weight, and body image issues. Eating and body image struggles are never just about food and weight. How we eat reflects how we live, our ideas about ourselves, and our beliefs about the world. Eating disorders are not limited to women and girls. I work with everyone including men, boys, as well as people of all ages.

I see patients individually, with their families, in groups and in Behavioral Health classes. I lead a meditation group on Monday mornings, open to all patients, and an Evolving Eating group on Tuesday afternoons. Through Behavioral Health, I offer a class called the The Path to Mindful Eating. This class is open to everyone. We focus on mindfulness, emotional regulation and crisis survival skills as a way to normalize eating. I have found these skills indespensable for all areas of my life.

I am a licensed psychologist with a doctorate of psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP). Outside of Kaiser, I teach college psychology, sociology, and women's studies classes. I created a class on eating and body image called Psychology of Eating, Food, and Weight. This class is offered at City College San Francisco. I am a registered yoga teacher and I practice and teach yoga.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
