My Qualifications

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I started working for Kaiser in 1995 at the Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center and Kaiser Vallejo hospital. I provided social work assistance to patients recovering from spinal cord injuries, head injuries and strokes and other general medical issues. I joined the Early Start Program in 1997 and worked concurrently in the Chemical Dependency Services for 4 and a half years. Before joining Kaiser, I worked in community based substance abuse treatment programs including a day treatment program for pregnant and parenting women.

My Professional Interests

I am particularly interested in women, infant and family health and substance abuse recovery. Having worked as a graduate student intern at Kaiser Sunset’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, I appreciate and value working in the Early Start Program that emphasizes prevention of tobacco, alcohol and drug related complications.

I enjoy providing information and support to help facilitate good birth outcomes, positive transitions to motherhood and recovery from substance abuse/dependence. It is very rewarding to witness and assist people dealing with difficult challenges and circumstances, making such powerful and positive changes.

My Personal Interests

In my free time I like spending time with my family, and enjoy cooking and hiking in the great outdoors.

My Formal Education

Undergraduate Education: Bachelors of Art in Psychology and French, University of California at Davis. Graduate Education: Master of Social Welfare, University of California at Los Angeles.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
