My Practice Philosophy

It is a privilege to take care of patients with cancer. I enjoy leading a comprehensive team of cancer-care specialists who work together to provide state-of-the art care. I believe in a multidisciplinary, compassionate and personalized approach to the care and support of each patient. In partnership with my patients, I strive to develop an individualized treatment plan that is tailored to their needs. I am optimistic about the future for cancer treatment, as every year brings new advances in our field!

About Me

I was born and raised in Northern California. I attended Indiana University, graduating in 1997 with a dual major in Biology and Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. I remained at Indiana University for my medical school training and graduated in 2003. After obtaining my medical degree, I completed my internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern (Parkland Hospital). I subsequently went to Weill Cornell Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital to complete my fellowship in Hematology and Oncology. I received an additional subspecialty fellowship from Weill Cornell Medical College in Genitourinary Oncology Clinical Research from 2005-2006 and completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation from Cornell University in 2010. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2010.

My Interests

I really enjoy caring for patients with breast cancer and genitourinary cancers (prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular). On a personal note, I love spending time with friends and family, enjoying good food and wine together.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
