About Me

I was born and raised in San Jose, California.

From 1987-1991, I attended Chico State University to complete my BA in psychology. I went on to Sacramento State University for my Masters in Social Work, which I completed in 1993. During that time I completed year-long internships at Sierra Vista Psychiatric Hospital and Sierra Family Services outpatient clinic, consecutively.

In 1996, I was hired at the South Sacramento Kaiser as a quality assurance reviewer for our psychiatric contract hospitals. I have been licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences since 1997. In 1998, I accepted the position as the Roseville IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) Coordinator, with the primary goal of developing the program. The IOP was opened later that year and has been up and running since with great success. After having my son in 2001 and twin daughters in 2003, I stepped down from full-time work in order to be home with them and have been working part-time with the crisis team since.

The Crisis Team in the Department of Psychiatry provides treatment and intervention for psychological emergencies. Our clinicians work on a multi-disciplinary team that is made up of MDs, Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Marriage Family Therapist. We provide treatment and intervention at Sacramento, Morse Avenue and Roseville Parkway Out-Patient Clinics, the Roseville and Sacramento Emergency Departments and the Roseville and Sacramento in-patient medicine units. I have really enjoyed being part of such a great team of clinicians.

I have worked primarily with adults in psychiatric crisis services and drug/alcohol counseling. I truly enjoy what I do and admire my patients as they face various life challenges/opportunities to the best of their ability with such bravery and honesty. I am reminded daily of the great ability of the human mind to cope and adapt.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as camping.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
