My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I work in the outpatient clinic primarily doing orthopedic physical therapy. This gives me the opportunity to directly help patients with their musculoskeletal ailments and educate patients in maintaining proper musculoskeletal health. I am also a certified lymphedema therapist; I educate and treat patients with their diagnosis of Lymphadema. This has been very rewarding for me as I am able to help patients stabilize their swollen limbs and find long-term solutions that best fit with their lifestyle.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is based on communication; getting to know my patients, THEIR concerns, and their goals for physical therapy. I also focus on education. I truly believe that if I can teach my patient about anatomy and about the source of their pain, they will better understand their physical therapy treatment, their healing, and how to prevent future problems.

My Credentials

B.S., Physiological Science University of California – Los Angeles 1993
M.S., Physical Therapy University of Southern California 1996
Lymphedema Certification Klose – Norton School 2002

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1996, initially at Kaiser in West Los Angeles. There, I focused on both inpatient and outpatient physical therapy; I also worked briefly with the chronic pain clinic, teaching the exercise portion of their class. I moved to the Sacramento area in 1999 and have transitioned to more outpatient orthopedic and lymphedema therapy. I have taught the back education class and currently manage the lymphedema clinic at Point West.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

Working with Kaiser Permanente has been professionally rewarding for me. We have a very large, educated staff and collectively, we share amongst each other a wide range of information. We truly work together in the interest of our patients. We consistently share the newest information and treatment approaches with each other and with our patients. Kaiser also promotes many educational opportunities and continuing education classes for professional growth.

On a Personal Note

Outside of Kaiser, I am very lucky to spend my time with my husband and two young children. In my spare time (do I have any?) I like to play with my kids, read, watch the Sacramento Kings or UCLA Bruins, and travel.
