Welcome to my home page. My name is Susan Puorro. I am a nurse anesthetist, also known as a C.R.N.A.(certified registered nurse anesthetist). C.R.N.A.s are advanced practice nurses with specialized graduate level education in anesthesiology. I have been practicing in this field for almost 30 years.

Although I am experienced in all aspects of anesthesia my special area of interest is pediatrics. Outside of my full time practice at Kaiser Permanente I am part of a charitable organization that provides medical and surgical services in a remote area of Guatemala. Many of our patients are infants and children.

Every year millions of people in the U.S. have some form of medical treatment that requires anesthesia. Anesthesia, in the hands of qualified professionals like C.R.N.A.s is a safe and effective means of alleviating pain during medical procedures. Here at San Rafael your comfort and safety is my number one priority. My colleagues and I look forward to helping you through this process.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
