Greetings! Welcome to my Home Page!

Thank you for visiting my home page and taking time to know more about me. I am a staff physician at the emergency departments of the Kaiser Permanente Manteca and Modesto Medical Centers. I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding department and the medical group here at Kaiser Permanente Central Valley. I hope that we can always provide high quality of care and service to you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any question.

About Me

I was born and raised in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. I came to the United States when I was 17. My family decided to leave Burma after the military dictatorship came to power and shut down all schools. We first settled down in Southern California and then moved to New York where I went to college and medical school. I received my Doctor of Osteopathic medicine degree (DO) at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Old Westbury, NY. I then completed my emergency medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY.

Even when I was young, medicine enthralled me by making me understand how the human body functions, how disease develops and how diseases can be cured. I started to get interested in medicine when I realized that I can help people in their time of need and vulnerability. I chose to become a doctor because it allows me to help people and to take them away from suffering. In addition, I can apply my medical knowledge to act like a detective, to make diagnosis and solve the problems.

I chose to do emergency medicine because it provides diversified, first-hand medical and surgical encounters; it requires competency in a physician to make decision in a short span of time. Furthermore, emergency medicine demands practical skills such as performing life-saving procedures and helping patients in their most crucial moments of life.

Training in an inner New York City hospital opened up opportunities to fine-tune my career interests and developed qualities that are essential to emergency medicine. These experiences in my residency years taught me that understanding, caring and honesty are qualities just as important as the knowledge obtained in the classroom. I also came to realize that being able to work with patients from various backgrounds and ages gives me great satisfaction. I hope that my residency training and skills that I acquired would make me a more competent emergency medicine physician. Working at Kaiser Permanente Emergency Department will endow me with a challenging as well as fulfilling career, and I am looking forward to it.

I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente because I believe in the quality health care it provides to the community. It is a well established organization and provides a stable nurturing environment for its patients and providers alike.

When I am not at work, I love gardening. Central Valley offers great weather and space for me to plant at my backyard. Besides gardening, I also enjoy reading, cooking and traveling. I speak fluent English and Burmese.

My Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care is to approach each patient in a holistic way: to look at each patient as a whole, not just a disease entity. Family inputs are always welcome and important for me to understand when treating each patient. I am also a believer in taking care of our own health by learning, educating, changing what needs to be changed and taking control of our lives. Educating patients and teaching in preventive care is also important so that we all can lead happier and healthier lives.

“…in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”
Abraham Lincoln

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
