Welcome to my home page. I am an anesthesiologist and have been

practicing with Kaiser Permanente for over twenty years, including Kaiser hospitals in Santa Clara, Sacramento, and South Sacramento. I have also been on the clinical faculty at Stanford and UC Davis, teaching anesthesia residents.

Practicing at Kaiser Permanente has provided me with a great deal of professional and personal satisfaction. I enjoy the camaraderie we share at Kaiser South Sacramento as well as the challenges our medical specialty presents. I care for patients of all age groups who undergo a broad spectrum of surgical procedures. My specialty training and interest are in pediatric anesthesia, so I serve as a resource person for my department in that field.

Anesthesiology presents a stimulating and challenging environment; every day is different and every patient is special. The number one goal of my department is patient safety and I believe that our care is second to none. Our group practice setting allows smooth access to numerous colleagues in other medical specialties who can coordinate with us pre and postoperatively as needed.

If you have questions about your anesthesia care, the American Society of Anesthesiologists website is an excellent resource. We are also happy to answer questions or to meet with patients preoperatively in person here at the South Sacramento medical center.

ABOUT ME

I am a native San Diegan, and received my undergraduate degree from UCSD, followed by medical school at the Stanford University School of Medicine. After completing a one-year internship at San Diego, I returned to Stanford to complete my anesthesia residency and pediatric anesthesia fellowship.

When I am not giving anesthesia, you’ll find me spending time with my family, square dancing, or wading knee deep in running water fly fishing for trout or steelhead.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
