My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a pediatric hematologist/oncologist. This means I treat children with various hematological and solid cancers as well as diseases involving red cells, white cells and platelets. I decided to take up this specialty based on my interest and passion to treat children with these otherwise morbid conditions. It is a forthcoming field with a tremendous capacity to expand in new concepts of diagnosis and treatment modalities.

My Practice Philosophy

Practicing pediatrics is a special art, where the physician bonds with both patient and family to achieve a successful doctor-patient relationship. As a physician for the past 20 years, I value patience, appropriate attitude and sincerity. These are my most important physician attributes apart from work skills and compassion.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I am a new member of the TPMG family of physicians. I chose to work here since it best suits my professional habitat and personal goals for a long term career in this field.

Professional Interests and Affiliations

Stem cell transplantation including cord blood research and uses for transplant.

On a Personal Note. . .

I am 37 years old, born in Chennai, India, graduated in 1994 followed by a post-graduate pediatric diploma in 1996. I completed pediatric residency at Flushing Hospital in New York from 1999 to 2002. I went on to my pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Schneider Children’s Hospital in NY from 2002 to 2005 then to my pediatric stem cell transplant fellowship from 2005 to 2007.

I joined as pediatric faculty in the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in Hershey, PA in 2007 and moved here after a year to support my spouse who is currently employed as a software engineer at Sacramento State University. I have always loved my profession, developed strong and compassionate relationships with most of my patients and good working relations with my colleagues. It's been a smooth journey for the past 20 years of training, with challenging moments and great opportunities of learning and acquired new ideas and thoughts.

I would like to continue this journey and look forward to crossing various obstacles and remain open to learning more and expanding my experience. My family, including my son, will be a strong pillar of support through my career and will definitely teach me good manners and skills to maintain myself as a complete physician.
