My Biography

I believe that to be a good Clinical Health Educator it is essential that your values are in line with those of the organization for which you work. Kaiser Permanente believes that prevention and the promotion of healthy behavior changes are essential to having good health. This is the primary reason why I chose to become part of the Kaiser Permanente team.

As a Clinical Health Educator my job is to teach and promote a healthy lifestyle and behavior change in diabetes, prediabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, weight management, and smoking cessation patients leading to better health and hopefully an overall better quality of life. I enjoy working with people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds and teaching them the tools and cornerstones of health that they can use to take control of their health one small but sure step at a time for sustainable change over time.

I am particularly interested in chronic conditions such as prediabetes, diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol which I know may be prevented and/or controlled by making the right lifestyle changes. I like to keep myself updated by keeping current on the latest research by reading new health article publications in research journals.

One of the best aspects of Kaiser Permanente’s heath care model is that we provide our patients with a vast array of online tools and resources, classes, programs, and one on one appointment visits for Health Education.

I was born and raised in San Francisco. I have traveled throughout Europe and have always traveled back and forth between my home in the U.S. and Mexico. This has allowed me to become bilingual and bicultural. My travel experiences and growing up in the Bay Area have helped me to learn about and appreciate people of different cultures and backgrounds. As a result, my favorite pastime when time and money permits is exploring other people’s customs and cultures through travel, music, dance, literature, and food.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
