My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist. I started working for Kaiser Permanente in the spring of 2007. Prior to working at Kaiser Permanente, I worked in a variety of settings providing counseling services to women, children and families. Most recently, I had spent almost 9 years with Yolo County Alcohol Drug and Mental Health working with many women in various stages of recovery. My experience includes facilitating various types of groups and working with individuals and their families suffering from an eating disorder.

Professional Interests

I feel fortunate to be a part of the Early Start program at Kaiser-Point West/Fair Oaks. I enjoy educating and identifying potential barriers to a healthy pregnancy and delivery. When I am not working for Kaiser Permanente, I enjoy teaching and facilitating workshops at a local community college.

Education

B.A. Paralegal Studies; Minor: Psychology Notre Dame College
M.A. Counseling Psychology Framingham State College

Licensing Information

I am licensed by the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners of the State of California. My license number is MFT44328.

What It Means To Be Licensed

To become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), a person must graduate with their Master's degree from an accredited university. He/she must take additional training in areas such as: alcoholism and other chemical substance dependency, human sexuality, partner abuse detection and intervention, and child abuse. After completing graduate school, a licensee must also complete 3,000 - 3,200 hours of supervised experience and pass written exams before becoming licensed. The licensee must take continuing education courses every two years.

On a Personal Note

I am originally from the East Coast. I moved to California to be closer to family. I enjoy spending time with my husband and two small children who keep us both very busy.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
