About Me

I grew up in Shanghai, China. I moved to Philadelphia after graduating from high school in Shanghai. I attended Temple University from 1990-1994, majoring in biology. After finishing college, I decided to become a doctor, just like my father who is a physician in China. I continued my education at Temple University and graduated in 2001 with both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees.

After graduating from medical school, I finished my internship and residency in internal medicine at Pennsylvania State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania. During my residency, I decided to become a nephrologist, because as a nephrologist, I can treat a patient as a whole person instead of individual organ systems. After residency, I was trained to treat people with kidney disease at Washington University in St. Louis.

I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente after finishing my training in Washington University because it gives me an environment to devote all my attention to patient care. The greatest joy of being a doctor is having the ability to help people.

I can speak Mandarin and understand Cantonese.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
