Welcome To My Home Page!
I believe that all individuals and families have strategies for managing the difficulties in their lives and are capable of making positive changes. However, when confronted with overwhelming stress, those strategies are sometimes hard to recognize. My goal is to treat each family member as the expert in his or her own life and to be available for support and guidance to help family members discover their personal strengths and abilities. I provide strength-based services that focus on solution-building so that families can reach their personal goals.
Having been a Kaiser Permanente member since birth, I am proud to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente system. I appreciate Kaiser Permanente’s emphasis on quality customer care and make every effort to demonstrate that in my interactions with patients. As a member of the Child and Family Team, I specialize in working with children, adolescents and their families who are experiencing a range of difficulties with respect to social, emotional, and behavioral development.
On a more personal note, I was born in Southern California and moved up to the Bay Area when I was a year old. I was a resident of the Bay Area throughout my childhood and then returned to Southern California where in 1998 I received my undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of California, San Diego. I spent my junior year of college at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and then upon graduating resumed my exploration of the world. So far I have visited over 20 countries on 5 different continents including many countries in the Middle East and Europe. I have also traveled to Australia, around South East Asia, and Central and South America. When traveling I enjoy meeting local people, participating in local customs, and learning about different ways of living.
After getting the travel bug slightly out of my system, I completed a doctoral program in psychology at Alliant International University, San Francisco and became licensed by the state of California as a clinical psychologist (license # PSY21105). I also became a member of the American Psychological Association (APA). I have been on the board of the East Bay Learning Disabilities Association since 2004 and am currently President of the Board. I also serve on the board of the Learning Disabilities Association of California. In addition to learning, attentional, and developmental disabilities, I am interested in multicultural issues as they relate to mental health and provide services in Spanish to our Latino members.
Prior to being employed by Kaiser Permanente, I worked at Children’s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, the Portia Bell Hume Center in Concord, and The Link to Children in Oakland.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
