Welcome to My Home Page!
Sight is our most precious sense. Preserving and protecting our eye health is paramount in allowing us all to function in, and enjoy every aspect of, our daily lives. As a primary eye care provider, I am able to enhance your gift of sight, and in doing so, improve your quality of life. This is the primary reason why I chose Optometry as my career. During my four-years at the U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry, I had the unique opportunity to perform vision screenings through the Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity and Help the World See organizations in developing countries such as China, Belize, Mexico, and Peru. Following this, I entered the professional community, experiencing different modes of practice, including private, ophthalmology-affiliated, and commercial.
In addition to being on the Clinical Faculty at the U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry, I am active as the Immediate Past President of the Alameda – Contra Costa Counties Optometric society and participate in vision screenings associated with the Canciamilla Health Fairs, the Sakura Kai Senior Center Health Fairs, and the Tri-Valley “Expand Your Horizons” conferences. I also enjoy serving on both the Scholarship and Civil Rights committees for the Berkeley Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League and continue to hold positions on the California Vision Foundation committee (California Optometric Association’s charitable arm) and the Advisory Committee for the President’s Council of the California Optometric Association. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, playing tennis, ikebana, arts and crafts, and rooting for the L.A. Dodgers! (Don’t hold that against me though; I’m a Southern California native).
I joined the Kaiser Permanente family in 2006 and am excited to be a part of such a well-respected health care organization. What I find most appealing about working at Kaiser Permanente is its multi-disciplinary environment. This environment allows me to work closely with all your other doctors and specialists to ensure that your vision and eye health are managed along with your general health in the best way possible. Communication amongst all health care providers is vital to providing the highest quality care to you and your families.
I look forward to serving as your optometrist and will do my best to take care of all your and your family’s eye care needs.
