Sherrill was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois. She received her RN from James Ward Thorne School of Nursing and her undergraduate degree (BSN) from Governors State University.

She's published multiple articles in Nursing Magazines (Nursing 2002, American Journal of Nursing, RN and Nursing Spectrum and is a certified Emergency Room Nurse and is a Trauma Nurse Specialist. She's worked in many areas including administration, risk management and quality review.

She started working at Kaiser three years ago and is currently working as an emergency room staff nurse and Diabetes Care Manager. She's a member of the American Diabetes Association, California Nurses Association and the Emergency Nurses Association.

Sherrill has 3 adult children. She's involved in animal welfare and works one day a week on the animal care team at Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, caring for elephant seals and sea lions. Her experience with diabetes care is a personal one, with two of her children diagnosed with diabetes at ages 3 and 8 (both on insulin pumps).
