My Biography:

Born and raised in India, I attended undergraduate training and medical school at the Marathwada University in India. After relocating to the United States I completed my residency at the Yale New Haven Hospital (Yale University). I am certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and have been working with the Permanente Medical Group since 2002.

Many patients view their upcoming surgery and anesthesia with a mixture of fear and apprehension. That is why I make a special effort to ease my patients' concerns as much as possible. I try to answer any questions my patients may have and explain the procedure that will take place. I want to make sure that each of my patients is prepared, both psychologically and physically, before surgery. My goal is to make the anesthesia experience as comfortable as possible without compromising safety.

I enjoy practicing anesthesia at Kaiser Permanente because it is a well integrated healthcare system with easy access to specialist services and the most sophisticated diagnostic tools and equipment if and when the need arises. The focus here is on quality medical care and cost-effective practices.

I encourage you to actively participate in your health care. The health information links on my home page should provide you with some valuable resources.

When you come in for your preoperative appointment please bring an updated list of your current medications; this will help us make the best possible use of your appointment time. During the pre-op visit we will review your medical background and family history, and we will assess your anesthesia risk to ensure that your anesthesia experience will be safe and comfortable.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two lovely children who make sure that I am never ever bored. I enjoy hiking and I love to cook. I also spend a significant amount of time keeping current with all the latest advances in my field.

I am fluent in Hindi, Marathi, and Malayalam, besides English.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
