My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a Licensed Physical Therapist. This means I do physical rehabilitation with patients who have neurological, muscular, skeletal or balance problems. I specialize in working with patients who have dizziness and balance problems associated with certain types of vestibular dysfunctions, commonly referred to as “vertigo”. I love what I do because the challenges in rehab are numerous. I am always amazed at the strength and dedication my patients exhibit. This is where “the real stuff” happens that can help people navigate successfully through their daily life, which is very rewarding as a clinician.

My Practice Philosophy

After an injury or illness, when a patient is suffering from pain or loss of mobility, my initial approach is to assist the healing process by teaching range of motion exercises and providing manual treatments that help with functional movements. Later, the emphasis of my clinical skills and treatments are based on specific strengthening exercises and educating you on how to prevent further injury while reaching your rehabilitation goals. At this stage, success is largely based on your dedication with your home exercise program. My hope is that your sessions are always informative, provide you with cutting edge rehab techniques, and also offer a bit of fun!!!

My Credentials

BS, Physical Therapy California State University – Sacramento 1997

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I began working as a Physical Therapist in 1997 and joined Kaiser Permanente on a part-time basis in 1999, then full time in 2001. Initially, I worked at Morse Hospital, but I now devote my time to the Point West Outpatient Clinic.

Why I Like Practicing at Kaiser Permanente

There are a lot of great health providers in Sacramento. I chose to work with Kaiser because of the unique collaboration between the different medical departments allowing continuity of care for each of our patients. I have always been impressed with Kaiser’s proactive thinking and ability to provide unique educational opportunities for its members. Group classes are offered on a variety of health topics and concerns. The more you learn about your health care needs and options, the more likely you are to THRIVE.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

  • National Vestibular Disorders Association

I have attended over 500 hours in continuing education that has advanced my professional knowledge and treatment skills, and typically attend 2-3 skills enhancement courses each year.

On a Personal Note. . .

Away from work, my time is spent participating in activities with my husband and two sons. I would describe us as an average, quiet family that enjoys watching movies together, fishing, camping and “creating stuff". Having suffered my fair share of injuries and pain, while juggling a full time job and raising a family, I believe I have a good understanding in helping others heal and manage their pain and injuries.
