Emanuel Medical Center - Driving Direction

As a member of the hospital-based team, I take care of Kaiser Permanente members when they are very sick and require in-patient care. I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding medical group here at Kaiser Permanente in Central Valley. I hope that we can always provide the highest possible quality of care and service to you.

About Me

I obtained my medical degree from Guangzhou Medical College, in Guanhzhou, China. I completed my residency in St. Luke’s Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

I was fascinated by the development in biomedical research after I finished medical school. Pursuing a Philosophy of Doctor (PhD) degree in the field of molecular biology was a natural step to fulfill my curiosity. However, during those years of PhD graduate studies in the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Texas, I found myself looking forward to explore something more challenging -- taking care of patients, instead of doing experiments in mice. That is the reason why I got back to clinical training in residency.

As a hospitalist (a physician who specialized in in-patient care) since 1999, managing the sickest patients in the hospital gave me significant challenges on a daily basis. I worked in a private practice and VA hospital, respectively, for more than 3 years before I joined Kaiser Permanente. With a variety of experiences, I sincerely felt the efficacy of the comprehensive health care model that Kaiser Permanente provides.

My personal interests include tennis, traveling, chess, computer, reading and movie. English is my primary language, I am also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, Chinese.

My Philosophy of Care

My philosophy to medical care is “The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.” (Voltaire, 1694-1778). My footnote here is that human bodies are powerful enough to get rid of most illness; Medicine is just an adjunct in this natural process. My clinical interest includes medical genetics and diabetes. There is significant development in the molecular biology in the last 20 years. I believe that there will be a lot more understanding and solutions in both molecular and clinical level in this century, which will greatly beneficial to human health care.

I wish you are in good health.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
