Welcome to My Home Page!
About Me
I began working as a full-time anesthesiologist at Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek in August of 1990, having completed a three year residency in anesthesia at the University of California, San Diego. The collaborative team approach to anesthesia and medicine in general that is practiced at Kaiser Permanente was very appealing. I entered anesthesia to help people through the intense times surrounding surgery and I have found the field very rewarding. I loved anatomy and physiology in medical school and find my practice in anesthesia is a constant application of these loves. I try to relate to each patient as I work with them, developing an understanding of their needs and wishes. In my practice, I work in a pre-operative clinic, where I enjoy meeting people in person and over the phone, discussing the many issues for their upcoming surgery.
Within the department, I have a particular interest in computer resources for medicine. I have helped maintain a computerized preoperative evaluation program for our department, and I developed several computerized tools, some manage patients with ongoing pain problems, others look to help assess and document patient satisfaction at our outpatient facilities. I have developed and maintain a website for our department that is used internally, and I am helping with the maintenance for the website you are viewing now.
When not at work, I enjoy traveling with my family, watching and coaching my kids sports, scuba diving, sailing, digital photography, and mountain bike riding.
Wish you the best of health

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
