My Biography

Nursing Degree: University of Texas, El Paso
Bachelors Degree: University of Texas, Galveston
Joined Kaiser Permanente: 1975
Other languages: Speaks Spanish
Special Interests/Skills: Treating Asthma

My interest in medicine began during my mother's illness. The last 4 years of her life were spent in and out of the general hospital. I came to SF and Kaiser in 1977 and have done primary care since than, and I am now the provider to the children of my patients. Through the years, I have taught prenatal and asthma classes in English and Spanish. My interest in health and nutrition has inspired me to become active in health life style educational programs and I am now involved in helping to teach a Kid's Shape nutrition program. I precept Pediatric Nurse Practitioner students from UCSF and participate in a mentoring program for immigrant community college students. I am on the domestic violence committee and the Nursing III committee which is involved in the selection of nursing clinical ladder advancement. I participate in all our neighborhood health fairs. As a part of Flying Doctors and Communidad, I am able to fly to Mexico and help provide care in areas where there is none. Through Kaiser, I have had the wonderful opportunity to nurture and watch families grow—providing guidance to a multitude of families. I strongly believe we must take less than we need and give more than we have in all areas possible to ensure a better world for those who follow us. I will continue to be an advocate for all children and care for them in the best way I can. They are our future!

Outside of my practice I enjoy hiking. Biking, gardening, and taking care of my five grandchildren. I also sit on the Domestic Violence Committee and the Clinical Nursing 3 Selection Committee.

I would like to remind all parents that it is encouraged that you accompany your child to their visits. If you are the parent of a teenager, please come as well, but we will prefer to see your teen alone during the actual appointment. Please remember to bring all immunization records and try not to wear any strong fragrances, as I am allergic to many. I look forward to taking care of your needs.

Please call to make an appointment prior to arriving in the clinic, as we do not have appointments available for walk-in patients.

Our goal at Kaiser Permanente is to be your health plan of choice and deliver the quality medical care our members deserve. Thank you again for choosing Kaiser Permanente.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
