Welcome to my home page!

Thank you for visiting me today. I look forward to being your health care provider. My specialty is Pulmonary (Lung) disease. I chose this field of medicine as it gives me immense pleasure in helping patients breathe easy and sleep better, which is vital for life. Pulmonary disease involves diseases like asthma, smoking related lung disease, lung infections, pulmonary hypertension, occupational lung diseases, abnormal chest imaging, lung tumors, sleep apnea and a variety of other conditions. Tests and procedures which may be ordered include chest x-ray or CT scan, spirometry, blood gas analysis, thoracentesis and bronchoscopy. I have a special interest in diagnosis and treatment of a variety of sleep disorders. Our department supervises ambulatory sleep studies and helps patients with sleep apnea by group education and treatment planning.

Background

I am a native of South India and received my medical education from Bangalore. Upon completion of my medical school, I then traveled to Chicago where I enjoyed both my residency and fellowship training with 2 different teaching hospitals including the North Chicago VA Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, located on the South side of Chicago. Joining Kaiser San Jose Medical Center in 2009 brought me closer to my family and also my career goals. An integrated health system allows me to take care of my patients without worrying about the business aspect. I am board certified in Internal Medicine. Some of my clinical interests include overlap syndrome and pulmonary hypertension. I believe in a good balance between professional and family life. I am blessed with a supportive husband and a lovely daughter who keep me busy and happy outside work. In my spare time enjoy playing with my toddler, travel with my husband, gardening and listening to music. In addition to English I speak most of the South Indian languages, such as Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.

Recommendations

I strongly believe in preventive medicine. Get your flu shot every year and quit smoking now! My goal is to educate patients about their disease and work with them closely. I believe in developing long term relationships with my patients. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. For more information please take the time to visit the Kaiser San Jose Internal Medicine Department website.

Philosophy of Care

I believe patients carry a major role in maintaining their well being. My duty is to educate and discuss the management options with patients and family members and guide them in choosing the right option.
