My Qualifications

I received my medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and completed my residency with Stanford University. I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 1997.

I earned the Alpha Omega Alpha Award at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. I currently serve on the Credentials & Privileges Committee for the hospital and on the Simulation Training Committee for the Emergency Department.

I am a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a member of the California Medical Association.

Prior to becoming a physician, I worked as a research assistant at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

My Healthcare Practice

My goal is to have a positive impact on my patients’ lives and to provide excellent care as quickly as possible. Our ED staff does everything possible to take care of our patients promptly. Many patients require tests, treatments and observation for changes in their condition. When sicker patients arrive, it is necessary to stabilize them first. All these factors will influence the length of your own ED visit.

I became especially interested in working in the Emergency Department while in medical school because it provides me with the opportunity to help people immediately and directly. I love working in the special environment of the Emergency Department with its very diverse patients and problems. I have been working in Kaiser's Emergency Department since 1977.

In addition to English, I speak Spanish.

Receiving Your Healthcare From Kaiser Permanente

The Kaiser Permanente system strives to deliver the best health care available today. As a physician, I love working for Kaiser because I have access to the information I need to properly care for my patients and to the consultants required for my patients’ conditions. As a physician-run organization, Kaiser does not interfere with my choices of which tests are appropriate for my patients. There are no restrictions for me to order any test which I think is necessary for the work-up of my patients' medical problems. I work with a very skilled and committed group of people who are invested in providing the best care possible for our patients. Working in the Emergency Department, I have immediate access to specialty consultants as needed for my patients' care.

My Outside Interests

During my leisure time, I love to travel. I also enjoy skiing, bicycling, horseback riding, camping and working in the garden. I pursue a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise at the gym.

Be sure to visit the New Kaiser Permanente Website for additional information regarding appointments, prescriptions, health education classes and other health-related topics. You can also click on my department link above to receive additional health information.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
