My Specialty and Why I Chose It
I am an emergency medicine physician. I chose emergency medicine as my specialty when I was in medical school when I discovered that emergency medicine allowed me to practice all aspects of medicine, which I am passionate about doing. I also look forward to helping many different patients each day from babies to adults. Emergency medicine provides me the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives and health. In addition, I have the benefit of being able to rapidly diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions due to the nature of my specialty.
My Practice Philosophy
One of the most important parts of my practice philosophy is that of compassion. It truly drives the manner in which I treat patients. Having family members recently treated for health problems has really ingrained this in me. I feel it is most helpful to know how it feels on both ends of the healthcare process.
My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente
I've been part of Kaiser Permanente since 2007. I work shifts in Roseville and in Sacramento at Morse Avenue.
Why I Chose to Practice Medicine at Kaiser Permanente
I chose to work for Kaiser Permanente because they use a modern, integrated system with patient records, and their quality of care for patients is outstanding. I have access to a large number of other physicians who are tops in their field to call on for consultation. I truly believe Kaiser Permanente provides the highest quality of health care and I am proud to serve our members.
On a Personal Note
I was born at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Morse Avenue here in Sacramento, California. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and went to college at the University of California, Davis. I went to medical school at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and I did my residency in emergency medicine at Scott and White Hospital –Texas A & M in Temple, Texas, while my husband was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas.
I met my husband in college and we married when I was in medical school. My husband is an Army officer, and we have moved frequently. We now have two wonderful little girls and a sweet black Labrador retriever. I have come full circle and I am glad to be back in Sacramento once again.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my energetic family and my dog who is my faithful shadow. I also enjoy running, martial arts, reading, the Davis Farmer’s Market, Bible study, and exploring beautiful Northern California.
