Welcome to my home page. I hope that the information you find here is helpful to you and your family.

Why did I choose to become a Registered Dietitian?

In junior high school, I became very interested in health and science. I became intrigued by dietetics as it blends the fields of health, science, chemistry, foods, exercise, and education to help individuals maintain or improve their health. I decided to become a Registered Dietitian in high school and after 25 years of practice, I could not be happier with my career choice.

Education and Training

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from San Jose State University. I am also a Certified Diabetes Educator with the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

Philosophy of Care

Our health is strongly determined by our lifestyle choices. Nutrition recommendations continue to evolve the more we learn about diet and health. I strive to keep patients informed about current scientific nutrition recommendations and develop goals with patients to improve their diet and health based on what they are ready, willing, and able to do.

Why did I choose to practice at Kaiser Permanente?

Having been a Kaiser Permanente member since about the age of three, I always received high quality care and decided that someday I would like to work for Kaiser Permanente. As I finished my education, I was very fortunate to complete my internship at Kaiser Permanente Santa Teresa. My experiences on both the receiving end of care as a long term Kaiser Permanente’s patient, and well as a health care provider, shaped my ideas about how health care should be delivered; a team directed approach to provide quality care for patients.

Kaiser Permanente’s philosophy of prevention has also allowed me to be an active participant in health coalitions in the community. I am an active member of the local diabetes educators network and teach nutrition at a local college. These opportunities have allowed me to be awarded the Registered Dietitian III level at which I currently practice.

About Me

I was raised in Cupertino, California and eventually settled down in Modesto 21 years ago. I enjoy spending my time with my husband and our two beautiful daughters. Our family is very active and we practice what I preach – variety, balance and moderation in our food selections and activity to keep us all healthy. I enjoy swimming, music, sewing, cycling, and cooking.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.
