My Biography

I am very excited to join Kaiser Permanent because of its integrated systems where members can access comprehensive medical care; a “no wrong door policy” makes a great deal of sense to me.

I grew up in South East England, studied at Cambridge and London Universities. I spent 10 years working with families living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. I then lived across Asia and particularly in India and Taiwan teaching and studying yoga. I moved to San Francisco where I studied Counseling Psychology at The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. As a therapist and yoga teacher, I have come to an understanding that the ultimate goal of therapy is simply to help others reconnect themselves to their innate wholeness. When we are sensitively supported within the therapeutic relationship, the rediscovery of the deep-seated compassion that we hold for each other and ultimately for ourselves is possible.

Over the past ten years my daily dedication to yoga and meditation practices has informed the way in which I approach my work. I have spent extended periods living and working across Europe, Asia and the US which has helped me cultivate the ability to understand and relate to people of diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

Mindfulness techniques, somatic approaches and transpersonal theory inform my vision of the Behavioral Health. I have a particular interest in working with relationships in transition especially within families and between couples. I have facilitated overview classes at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on Mindfulness Techniques, Pathways to Stress Reduction, Depression and Anxiety.

I currently work with APC4 and the Family Medicine Module in the Department of Medicine.

During my free time I very much enjoy spending time with friends and family, dining out, helping to run a community yoga and meditation program and exploring the Northern California countryside.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
