Hello and welcome to my home page. I hope you will use this page not only as a way to get to know me, but as a resource in your rehabilitation. This will be a work in progress for some time, so I encourage you to check in from time to time.

I have included a variety of home program links to the left of your screen. If you are a patient of mine, feel free to look through them for replacements of any handouts I have given you. Whether you are a patient of mine or not, I recommend discussing any new exercises or activities with your physician or physical therapist before trying them on your own. Enjoy the site!

A Little about Me

I was raised in Kelseyville, California (the “Pear Capital of the World”), and I am from a family of pear and walnut farmers. Now that I am established here in Sacramento, I enjoy traveling with my wife, playing with our 2 dogs, spending time with family, reading (my favorite is The Far Side, if that counts), listening to music, tending to my yard, playing chess, and dabbling in poker and golf. As a firm believer in “use it or lose it,” I get my physical activity by working out in my garage and walking our dogs.

A Brief Professional History

I attended the University of the Pacific (UOP) in Stockton, CA for both my undergraduate and graduate education. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Medicine in 1999 and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2001. During my time at UOP, I met my beautiful wife, who is also a physical therapist.

From Stockton, I moved to Vallejo, where I completed a postgraduate training program in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) at Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center. My year there was spent working with victims of strokes and traumatic brain injuries and was extremely rewarding. But, as my true passion is orthopedics, I felt a need to move on.

I transferred to Kaiser, South Sacramento, in 2002 but soon after left Kaiser to work in a small private practice. While I met a lot of wonderful people and developed some close friendships, I found that a great deal of my time was drawn away from patient care in order to sustain the administrative side of the business.

Ultimately, I found my way back to Kaiser by the end of 2004. I feel at home at Kaiser, as this environment allows me to provide high quality care and spend the great majority of my time treating patients.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
