Welcome to my home page!

Physical therapists don’t save lives, but we make them worth living. A professor once told me this and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been a physical therapist since 1985 and prior to joining the staff in 1992 I worked in various settings including a clinic, a hospital and a private practice in San Rafael. I’m originally from New York and attended college in Massachusetts. I moved from the East Coast to the Bay Area in 1978 and have lived in Marin since 1986. Although I’ve been in the department since 1992 this, in fact, is not my first job with Kaiser Permanente. Prior to becoming a physical therapist I was an architect for about ten years and worked in the Facilities Planning Department in that capacity for a short time when I first moved to California.

Becoming a physical therapist was born from my interest in the architecture of the human body coupled with a strong education in psychology. I love to help people and this seemed the natural fit. Although I’m trained in all facets of traditional physical therapy, I primarily concentrate on patients who have suffered orthopedic injuries. I feel that it’s important to treat not only a specific injury but the whole of a person as well. Together in partnership with patients I take action to treat and rehabilitate injuries and problems that are often life changing. Within this framework I ensure that a patient is properly educated on the challenge at hand and work to give them the understanding and tools required to get better and improve their situation.

When I’m away from work I enjoy time with family. As a mother of two teenagers “free time” often seems laughable but I relish it nonetheless. Between their activities and school involvement in horseback riding, music and sports my husband and I are quite busy. We also enjoy travel, especially to Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest, as well as hiking and the fine arts. I love most everything Marin has to offer and am especially proud to be able to help serve the very community for which I’m a member.

Thanks for visiting me on the web. I’m proud to be a member of such an outstanding department and medical group here in San Rafael. I hope you take advantage of the vast web-based resources that we are able to provide. Kaiser does a great job in promoting health and educating our membership and the general public about a myriad of health concerns and current events. Please take advantage of everything we are able to offer. Take care and I look forward to our next appointment.
