How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente because of the reputation of a professional work environment with great benefits and support for employees. I was excited by the ability to use my Spanish language skills, to create programs and groups and the level of professional respect I felt. The patient diversity was also a big draw for me to Kaiser Permanente because of my life experiences and strength in working with diverse populations.

On the Child and Family team we have a wonderful group of clinicians who love their work and are dedicated. We really do work very much as a team and consult with each other frequently. The ability to discuss a case with a patient’s pediatrician and other providers to coordinate care, is an outstanding aspect for patients and for the clinician to give the best care possible.

I enjoy coming to work every day and this is because I look forward to seeing my patients. I work with teens, children and their families and while there are always some similarities, they all present in a unique way, with unique qualities to their families. I enjoy this work because I can see how even a little intervention can help a family and reconnect them. Children and teens are resilient and they are able to benefit from therapy individually, with their families/parents and in group therapy. They keep me on my toes, real and honest to myself and my practice.

I have a special interest in adoption issues because of my own experience as an adoptee and the years of training and professional work with the adoption triad. Also, I have developed a specialty and interest in Anxiety disorders including social anxiety, phobias, ocd, PTSD, panic disorder and general anxiety. I have seen in my years of practice that these and other forms of anxiety can impede greatly on patients daily and long-term living. Some Anxiety disorders can be difficult to treat and others a little easier but with the right treatment, the results can be dramatic, quick and life changing.

In addition, I assess children and teens for ADHD. This disorder too can be lifelong and create many unnecessary difficulties in lives.

I follow professional soccer, study and speak Spanish, go to the beach, hike, dance, listen to music, travel and work on my 100 year old house. To stay healthy and sharp, I practice Bikram yoga, lift weights, swim, bike and eat healthy foods. I try to have lots of love in my life from family, friends and my three dogs, cat and bunny.

I think every day about what I’m eating and choose healthy foods. I check in with myself about how I’m dealing with stress, and do anti-stress exercises. I take care of my emotionally wellbeing by being positive, compassionate, kind, loving and honest. I remember to stretch, laugh and breath.
