About Me

Hi, my name is Robert Burger. I am an orthopaedic surgeon practicing in the Occupational Medicine Department. While I specialize in work-related injuries, I also specialize in Sports Medicine and arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee, elbow and ankle.

My Credentials

Medical school Finch University of Health Sciences/the Chicago Medical School, North Chicago, IL
Internship UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Residency UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Residency St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center, San Francisco, CA
Board certification Orthopedic Surgery, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Board certification Orthopedic Sports Medicine, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery

I have practiced here at Kaiser Permanente for the past 16 years and have enjoyed the camaraderie of my colleagues and the top level of care we provide. Our philosophy as an organization is also my own personal philosophy as a physician -- that is, to provide the best care to "my (our)" patients. It's been a great advantage to my career and my patients to have the most comprehensive medical network in the state backing me up. I believe in the team approach to succeed, and with the vast resources available to me in our organization, I have been able to provide all the care necessary for my patients, as well as fulfill my desire to do community service and be involved with on-going post graduate educational programs.

I am a member of The American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine and serve on their Little League Safety Sub-Committee.

I have served as a physician at the United Sates Track and Field Championships-Olympic Trials, the N.C.A.A. Track and Field Championships, the National Junior Track and Field Championships, and other sporting events. I am currently an assistant team physician for the University of California at Davis. Through the continued support of Kaiser Permanente, I have provided an annual Little League Safety Course for our Local Districts 5 and 54 for the last 15 years. I am also involved with the Special Olympics.

I am excited about bringing my skills as a seasoned orthopaedic surgeon to our local employers' and communities' injured workers. Whether an injured patient needs to return to a playing field or a construction site, my goal is to provide top level care to my patients so that they may return to their field of endeavor. We still follow the team approach so our patients recover as fully and quickly as possible.

Aside from patient care, I enjoy coaching kids and mentoring high school and college students in career development. Who knows, one of them may be my doctor someday!

When you come to my office, our goal is to provide comfortable, comprehensive care. My staff works hard to make your time with us efficient and beneficial. We know your injury causes hardship and frustration, so we want to diagnose your problem, explain it to you and treat your injury as best as possible. We also require the patient --" YOU "- to be part of the team and communicate your needs and be active in your care.

I look forward to meeting you and working as a team to improve your quality of life.

Thank you for visiting my web page!

Sincerely,

Robert S. Burger, M.D.
