Welcome to my home page. This is a good way of introducing myself: who I am and what I can do for you as an anesthesiologist.

I am a local, having grown up in San Francisco, attending Lowell High School before college at the University of California at Davis. I completed medical school at the University of California at San Francisco, finished my internship in transitional medicine at Highland Hospital in Oakland, and trained in anesthesiology at the University of Washington in Seattle.

From my childhood and adolescent healthcare as a Kaiser member, I learned personally about and knew I wanted to work in this truly integrated healthcare delivery system. I arrived at Kaiser as a pool physician in September 2008 in Oakland and Richmond as well as occasionally at South San Francisco. I became a staff anesthesiologist at the Kaiser East Bay campuses in November 2009.

As an anesthesiologist, I work inside and outside of the operating room, managing perioperative and postsurgical pain in many hospital patients. In my belief that many surgeries may not require general anesthesia, I perform peripheral nerve blockade (for example, I can numb your shoulder for shoulder surgery) that helps with pain during and even through days beyond the surgery time itself.

When I am not at work, I enjoy traveling, scuba diving and tennis, and I often run the length of Golden Gate Park in the off-hours.

My Credentials

Medical school UC San Francisco Medical Center, San Francisco, CA
Internship Alameda County Medical Center, Oakland, CA
Residency University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, WA
Board certification Anesthesiology, American Board of Anesthesiology

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
