My interest in audiology grew out of an appreciation of linguistics which led to courses in speech-language pathology and audiology. Audiology, however, was more of a natural fit to my temperament in that it offers a degree of autonomy that I enjoy. New advances in hearing aid technology continue to provide new challenges. I also teach a hearing aid education class for new hearing aid users bi-monthly. Patients have more realistic expectations from hearing amplification after taking the classes.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
