My colleagues and I designed our home pages to make it easier for you to take care of your health care needs. We've included a variety of superior online programs and health information that we have evaluated or written ourselves. Providing you with only the highest quality materials demonstrates our commitment to giving you the best quality care.

My Background

I grew up in Vancouver, BC and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in 1995. I then moved to Washington DC for my medical school training at Howard University. During medical school, I chose to complete a residency in pediatrics with the plan to sub-specialize in pediatric critical care as this would combine my interest in caring for children with the challenge of managing complex physiologic abnormalities and performing procedures. During my residency at Children's National Medical Center, this interest in pediatric critical care was affirmed and I moved to Dallas in 2003 to start a pediatric critical care fellowship at Children's Medical Center of Dallas.

Although very grueling, my fellowship training at Children's Medical Center was extremely interesting and constantly challenging as I learned to care for children with obscure medical conditions requiring the most complex levels of life support. Following my fellowship training, I became faculty at the same institution and practiced as an attending physician in the pediatric intensive care unit in Dallas starting in 2007.

In 2008 my wife and I decided we wanted to move somewhere new and when I interviewed here in Sacramento we fell in love with California. I joined the PICU at Kaiser Roseville in July of 2009.

Roles & Responsibilities

In the PICU, we care for any child, from birth to 18 years of age with a critical illness, requiring close monitoring and advanced life support such as mechanical ventilation, continuous infusions of medication or special procedures.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
