Welcome to my home page!

A little bit about me:
I was born in San Francisco and raised in foggy Pacifica (you know I feel fortunate to live and work in beautiful Marin). I went to high school in the City (SI), college in the City (USF), and med school in the City (UCSF). My wife and I continue to enjoy decorating and making our house a home. I like to ski during the winter (I'll go down anything that is groomed) and follow the Giants whenever I can. We also love to travel.

A little bit about my practice:
For over 18 years I had an outpatient Internal Medicine practice first in San Rafael and more recently in Novato. I closed my office practice in October of 2006 so I could devote more of my time to my nursing home responsibilities. I will be dividing my time between rounding and managing patients in the convalescent hospitals and providing Palliative Care and Hospice consults in the hospital. As always, I will still be a Hospitalist and periodically take Internal Medicine Calls admitting and managing patients in the hospital.

How to use my web page:
Kaiser and I have compiled a lot of useful health information on a variety of topics and feel free to browse it over. Since I am now considered a specialist, patients and families no longer have Secure Messaging access to me and cannot email me directly. Messages concerning my nursing home patients are best left with the staff at the individual convalescent hospital or routine messages can be left with my office at 415-893-4046. Please realize I am irregularly in my office and spend most of my time in the field.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome, and I look forward to seeing you around campus.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
