Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Welcome to my Kaiser Permanente home page! I am dedicated to give you and your family the best possible care and I hope you will find my home page very valuable.

About Me

I chose to get my doctorate in psychology at age 50 after a career in the semiconductor industry. I enjoy my work, especially the variety of work I can do as a psychologist (individual and group therapy, psychological testing, and education). The reason I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente was because of the services I can provide. I enjoy working with adults and adolescents and make positive changes not only for themselves, but also for their families. I received my Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA in June of 2003. I became a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY 20008) in November of 2004. My postdoctoral training was completed at Kaiser Permanente Adult and Adolescent Chemical Dependency Services at Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek. After working at a community mental health clinic and in the state prison system as an independent contractor, I decided to rehire on at Kaiser Permanente Manteca Chemical Dependency Recovery Program in October 2008.

My Philosophy of Care

I strive to give the same quality of care to my clients that I would want to receive myself. I continually challenge myself to receive training in new areas as well as strengthen existing skills.

More About Me

I was born in Rhode Island and still have that unique accent! I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of New England, Biddeford, on the beautiful (and very cold) southern coast of Maine. After college I went into the Peace Corps and taught English in Gabon. Having the urge to travel but not the means, I joined the Navy and was an electronics technician on a nuclear submarine. After my tour of duty I worked in two different high-tech fields: optical and semiconductor and traveled world wide. After deciding to return to graduate school to receive my doctorate in psychology, I was adopted by my cat Muffin. Shortly after I met and married my wonderful wife Nancy. My hobbies are playing guitar and reading, I also do volunteer work at the Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area, where Nancy is the Executive Director.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
