My Biography

I came to San Francisco in order to complete my education. I was interested in working at Kaiser Permanente because it was a well-run organization with a reputation for high-quality patient care. Within Kaiser’s comprehensive care model, I have no restrictions on the way I practice medicine. I really enjoy working with my colleagues. They bring a high level of expertise to their work and a collegial environment to our department.

I really enjoy my clinical work, as well as the fact that I have the flexibility to be a part of different pieces of the treatment process. Our comprehensive health plan means that patients have access to centralized care, and they enjoy unlimited access to all of our facilities. I am able to make smooth, seamless referrals to other providers and departments, when necessary. An additional advantage for me is that I relate well with bicultural patients because I speak Cantonese as well as English.

I do believe in preventive medicine wherever possible. To that end, I serve as Director of our Phase Clinic for Prevention of Heart Attack and Stroke. I sit on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics boards, and I still teach in the residents program.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
