Welcome to My Home Page!

I began work at Kaiser Permanente, Antioch Mental Health in 1999 on the child and family team. I chose to work with kids and their families because I believe there is so much potential for positive change. ADHD, anxiety, and depression are among the issues I frequently see in my practice, and I am comfortable working with children and adolescents of all ages. In my experience, keeping parents involved in a child’s treatment helps make for good outcomes.

I have a particular interest in the health effects of media on children, including violence, obesity, and learning problems. I write and speak on the subject, and have helped design materials used by Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region to help guide children’s media use. By providing a healthy home media environment for children, I believe parents can make positive changes in their children’s lives.

My wife and I have two young daughters who keep us more than busy. Raising them has given me valuable perspectives on my clinical work, including a parenting class I teach at the clinic.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
