How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

I am proud to say that I was a Kaiser Permanente baby, and I have been a lifelong HMO member. Kaiser Permanente fits in well with my philosophy of how medical care should be delivered. I believe in our integrated and comprehensive health care system, and I enjoy the challenges and opportunities I encounter in our exciting clinical environment.

Areas of particular interest include diagnostic immunohistochemistry and quality improvement, but my interests also include general surgical pathology and research. I serve as the Assistant Chief of Quality Assurance here at San Francisco Medical Center, and I sit on our Wellness Committee. I regularly attend the U.S. and Canadian Academy of Pathology Conferences, and recently attended the inaugural International Course on Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology.

I am a volunteer pathologist with the Regional Cancer Foundation Second Opinion Tumor Board. The Board is an independent charitable foundation that provides free consultations for any California resident with a cancer diagnosis.

During my free time, I like to ride bicycles, hike, kayak, play bocce ball, listen to music, and read biographies and history. I participate in century rides and train with a local racing team. I do bike to work as frequently as possible. I am a member of the Bicycle and Alternative Transportation Task Force here at Kaiser Permanente, as well as a member of the Marin County Bicycle Coalition.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
