About Me

I am an orthopaedically trained hand surgeon. I specialize in treatment of the upper extremity, from acute injuries such as fractures and tendon lacerations, to more chronic conditions such as arthritis and compressive neuropathies including carpal tunnel syndrome.

I am a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery.

I am originally from New York City, and first came to California to attend Stanford University for my undergraduate education where I earned my degrees in Art History and Biology. After completing medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, my orthopaedic residency in New York City and hand surgery fellowship in Philadelphia, I returned to California in 2004 to open my own practice.

During my training, I spent two months at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and four months at the Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. I had the privilege of training with some of the giants of hand surgery including Dr. Larry Schneider, Dr. Lee Osterman, Dr. Scott Kozin, Dr. Steve Glickel, and Dr. Richard Eaton.

An important part of my practice includes periodic overseas volunteering efforts. We live in a land of plenty, and it is humbling to visit places where what we consider basic needs are often luxuries. I feel it is part of my duty as a physician to treat and teach in areas where patients and physicians have limited resources.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
