More than 28 million Americans have some type of hearing problem. Hearing difficulties are often unrecognized by the person involved. Children and teenagers seldom complain about the symptoms of hearing loss, and adults may lose their hearing so gradually they do not realize it is happening. The first step in treatment of a hearing problem is a hearing evaluation by an audiologist. Audiologists are health-care professionals who evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance disorders. Audiologists treat all ages and types of hearing loss: adults, teens, children, and infants.

I received my undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology in 1984 and my Master of Arts degree in Audiology in 1986 from San Jose State University. I earned my Doctor of Audiology degree in 2003 from Arizona School of Health Sciences. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1997. I have a special medical interest in cochlear implants. I belong to the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech and Hearing Association.

I was raised in the Bay Area (Sunnyvale). I have two grown children. In my spare time I enjoy reading, hiking, yoga and traveling.

I believe in being a good listener and I strive to provide patients with the best possible hearing health care.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
