Welcome to my home page. I hope that the information is helpful to you and your family.
About Me
Soon after I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition at Iowa State University, Ames, IA, I moved back to Puerto Rico, where I came from. While I was there, I taught a nutrition class to kindergartners and first graders on the importance of eating fruits and vegetables. They were so engaged and interested in the information that I realized how enjoyable a discussion about nutrition could be. Largely as a result of this experience, I decided to become a Registered Dietitian. I moved to Brooklyn, New York, where I completed my internship in Dietetics at the Long Island College Hospital. Later, while working at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, as an out patient dietitian, I become a Certified Diabetes Educator.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in November of 1999. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, photography and traveling throughout this beautiful state of California.
Philosophy of Care
Nutrition plays a huge role in our health and is something we all should consider in order to live a full and well balanced life. As the Health Education Manager in Kaiser Permanente Stockton, I have come to believe that one of my most important roles is to assist in empowering others by providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to take care of their personal health. I think teaching can be compared to gardening, where ideas are like seeds that when disseminated they will germinate later in someone’s life.
Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.
