Welcome to my homepage

I joined Kaiser in the summer of 2006 after completing a two-year subspecialty training at Stanford University. I came to choosing Kaiser South San Francisco for various reasons. The most important reasons behind my choice were the fact that I would be permitted to focus my attention on the surgical management of my patients and practice in a beautiful region of the country that I have grown to love. I got to this point after several years of schooling and training. That process started out in my home town of Beirut, Lebanon, where I attended the American University of Beirut, majoring in Biology for my undergraduate degree. I chose to follow that with four years of medical school, also at AUB, which continues to be recognized as one of the most pre-eminent medical schools outside the United States.

My decision to go into the medical field was, to some extent, influenced by my experiences at home; but honestly, I chose medicine mostly because I could not imagine doing anything else and being as happy as I am in the medical field. It was the same feelings that drove me to choose a career path in surgery. Having graduated from medical school, I moved to Richmond, Virginia where I completed a five year general surgery residency and became more convinced of my decision to go into surgery every day! I concluded my training at Stanford Medical Center where I completed a two year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. During that time, I also had the opportunity to conduct some clinical research trials that were mostly focused on bariatric surgery.

I love my job. Still, I do have some outside hobbies and interests. Mostly, I enjoy outdoor sports (hate the gym), especially skiing, soccer and tennis. I try to find some time for good books and concerts in between.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
