Welcome to Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Chemical Dependency Program and welcome to my web page! Please use the links provided to find your way to useful resources within and outside of our program.

I have been a psychotherapist in the Chemical Dependency program at Kaiser Permanente since 1991. I was at Santa Clara Kaiser, where I was part of developing the CDRP and transferred to South San Francisco in 1998. It is a privilege to work with the wonderful Kaiser Permanente staff and patients.

I attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH, but did not finish there. Later I returned to college and graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. I attended and graduated with a MSW from the University of California at Berkeley in 1988. I worked for San Francisco Rape Treatment Center at San Francisco General Hospital from 1988 until I began at Kaiser Permanente in 1991. I have always had a small private psychotherapy practice in addition to my work here.

I enjoy working with many populations. I work with individuals, couples, and groups. I currently facilitate our senior group, video group, and a psychotherapy recovery group for patients who have completed our early recovery program. In the past I have worked with the teens; a parents group for the parents of teens in our adolescent program; facilitated a couples group; worked with family members of alcoholics and addicts; run a lesbian and gay treatment group; and facilitated a group for parents of smaller children who have an alcoholic or addicted parent. I prefer working psychodynamically in conjunction with 12-step programs and other cognitive behavioral supports.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
