Hello and welcome to my home page. I was born in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, but all my family is from Spain (Basque Country actually), and I grew up between Spain and Puerto Rico. Perhaps that's why I love flying so much. Both my parents were college professors and they stressed in me the need of learning and always being open to new ideas and discoveries. I originally entered medical school wanting to be a neurosurgeon, but soon realized that as fascinating as that field is, it is static. The brain doesn't change from day to day, it's not rapidly adapting to new challenges. There is only one field in medicine where that happens, Infectious Diseases. Our job is to fight something that by its own nature wants to survive, be it from a simple cold virus to malaria, or HIV. Our field encompasses all the other fields of medicine; surgery, obsterics, dermatology, etc... It is immensely challenging and gratifying. But back to my history. I moved to California in 1999 and opened my own practice in Patterson, a small town south of Modesto. I soon realized that being your own boss has many advantages but also many headaches. After 4 years, I decided that I had not studied medicine to be an administrator and I decided to join Kaiser Permanente which offered exactly what I was looking for; a collegial environment where I can practice the best medicine I can.

I am currently board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and also in Infectious Disease. I have published several articles in medical journals about Dengue fever and tuberculosis.

I also am fluent in both English and Spanish.

My Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care is to always listen to what the patient wants. I only advise, but the final decision is always made by the patient.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.
