Self-Empowerment, Active Healing, and Calm
These are what I hope to transmit to you through the powerful art and science of acupuncture. Working here at Kaiser has been such a privilege and honor as I am able to work together with many talented practitioners of health and offer a different yet complimentary perspective on healing ailments.
According to Chinese Medicine, the root of all diseases arises from an imbalance somewhere in the body and or mind that occurs through improper lifestyle habits, traumatic experiences, and emotional distress. Symptoms, meaning your own personal experience of disease, can begin to manifest from that imbalance as physical and emotional pain, organ dysfunction, or a general sense of "non-wellness." If the underlying imbalance is not addressed properly, the symptoms of disease will persist and may even worsen over time and become chronic, degenerative conditions. It is the essence of acupuncture to identify this imbalance and to correct it by inserting fine, sterilized needles into certain parts of the body known to cause a specific physiological response that restores homeostasis. Acupuncture is my joy and passion because it is an effective, natural, and gentle system of healing that promotes whole-body wellness in addition to treating the symptoms of disease. With proper lifestyle changes and physical activity, acupuncture has proven to be a valuable adjunctive treatment for the management of chronic pain.
Outside of work, I enjoy my downtime practicing yoga, or just reading a nourishing book while sipping a hot cup of tea. When feeling active, I love playing volleyball with friends, working out, taking long scenic nature walks, searching Yelp for the next exciting restaurant adventure, and making healthy green smoothies! My weakness, I have to admit, is watching horror movies with friends just to share some exhilarating screams and silly laughter.
I graduated with a BA in Molecular Biology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. I then attended Chinese medical school at Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA, where I attained my masters degree and licensure to practice Chinese Medicine. My passion for Chinese Medicine was ignited during my studies and apprenticeship under a reknowned Japanese acupuncturist master, Kiiko Matsumoto, whose style blends the best of classical Chinese acupuncture with modern biomedicine into a coherent, effective healing tradition. I continue to study under Kiiko several times a year in order to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date treatments for my patients.
