Welcome to My Home Page!

I grew up in southern California and graduated with a degree in Neuroscience from Pomona College. I then worked at University of California, Irvine studying Autism. It was there that I realized that I really enjoyed working with people and wanted to use my knowledge to directly help people. I thought that the best way to achieve this was in medicine. I moved to the east coast and went to medical school at Temple University. After graduating from medical school, I returned to California and specialized in internal medicine at University of California, San Diego. During residency I decided to further sub-specialize in endocrinology.

Endocrinology is the study of the hormones and metabolism. It involves different glands that have effects in many organs through out the body. I liked how the endocrine system worked in harmony through complex feedback and regulation. I also enjoyed forming meaningful long-term relationships with my patients. I completed my fellowship in endocrinology at the combined Cedars-Sinai / UCLA-VA program. I also served as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles supervising and training medical students, residents and endocrinology fellows.

My wife and I decided to move to northern California after fellowship. I knew that I wanted to join Kaiser Permanente after working with them in southern California following residency. I liked the autonomy to practice quality medicine within an integrated multi-specialty team approach. My goal as a physician is to use my expertise to help my patients receive directed and individualized medical care. My philosophy of care is to listen carefully to my patient’s needs and to empower them in the prevention and treatment of the disease process. I currently serve patients at both Martinez and Walnut Creek in the Diablo Service Area. In addition to English, I speak Mandarin Chinese.

I am a member of the Endocrine Society, American Thyroid Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, California Medical Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. When I am not working, I enjoy kid friendly activities with family and friends. I also enjoy hiking, bicycling and playing basketball.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
