I was born at the Oakland Kaiser medical center, and raised in Maryland. My medical training was at the University of Rochester NY. My residency in Internal Medicine was at Mt Zion Hospital in San Francisco, my Rheumatology training was at UCSF/VA in San Francisco. I am board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. I was in private practice in San Francisco from 1982 till 1990. I've worked for Kaiser Permanente at the Fremont Medical Center since 1990.
I am a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, and a committee co chair at HL7.org, the standards organization for electronic healthcare systems.
I also do consulting work in healthcare informatics for various software companies.
My practice at Kaiser is in Rheumatology by referal from primary care providers.
