My Biography

I graduated with an undergraduate degree from UC San Diego, and completed my medical degree at the Chicago Medical School. In 2001, after residency training in emergency medicine at Boston Medical Center, I began my practice at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco.

As Chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine, I am working hard to continually improve the service, quality and efficiency of the department. Our mantra is that everyone should be treated as if they were members of our family. Everyone that presents to the emergency department deserves to be treated with respect, with kindness and professionalism, and with the dedication of the entire staff. We are extremely proud of staff and the results we have gained so far. Kaiser Permanente is continually receiving accolades and awards for the quality of the medical care delivered. Our physicians are among the brightest and well trained in the nation.

I am proud to be a member of the Kaiser Permanente community and the service we provide to our members. I firmly believe that Kaiser Permanente members get the best health care compared with any health care system in the world.

In my spare time I enjoy skiing, triathlons, biking, hiking, home improvement, and spending time with my wife and children.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
