My Biography

I came to Kaiser Permanente San Francisco because of the ability to provide patient care in an unrestricted setting. Within our Cardiothoracic Surgery department, we take a streamlined approach to providing care. Patients have extraordinary access to their physicians, which is paramount. We function as a high-volume center, providing focused, targeted care for a range of problems that smaller medical groups can’t offer. My colleagues are supportive and collegial, and we work as a team. We’ve got a strong, cohesive group.

Kaiser’s centralized health care model means that patients are able to see specialists, complete their lab work, and fill their prescriptions on-site. Referrals are seamless and all providers on a patient’s care team can communicate with one another easily. Health Connect, our electronic charting tool, enables providers to coordinate care with efficiency.

Areas of particular interest to me include cardiothoracic surgery, myocardial vascularization, valvular surgery, thoracic aortic surgery, and many facets of general thoracic surgery. On a regular basis I attend the Western Thoracic Surgical Association’s annual conference, and the Mt. Sinai Aortic Surgery Symposium. At the regional level, I sit on the Cardiovascular Services Technology Committee. At the local level, I sit on the Products Council and the Cardiovascular Operational Group.

During my free time, I enjoy exploring the Bay Area, visiting family on the east coast, and professional sporting events, especially Giants games! I keep healthy and active by going to the gym whenever I can, using my elliptical at home, drinking plenty of water, and watching my red-meat intake. I am married with two small children and a German Shepherd.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
